In rural communities where economic activities are predominantly agri-related, many individuals focus their efforts on establishing farmlands and plantations focusing their efforts on pursuing profit, many focus their efforts in cocoa or oil palm. The abundance of cocoa and oil palm plantations has resulted in rural economic activities being skewed towards their cultivation and little attention placed in the processing of the produce. This has resulted in a significant chunk of farm produce getting damaged due to a lack of adequate artisanal mills to process the harvest. Taimako has identified this gap in the rural agri-focused communities and looks to alleviate this shortcoming by establishing artisanal mills to help in processing farm produce. The mills aim is to facilitate processing of the farm produce and allow the end-products be sold at markets on local and international market. With the mills fully functional, the lengthy period harvests are kept in storage facilities is reduced, greatly reducing post-harvest losses in the long run. These artisanal mills will encourage farmers to keep producing with one eye on maximizing profit margins.
