Campaign Story
With increasing global standards in oil palm production, it is important to conduct an introspect into the Ghanaian oil palm sector and audit the means by which oil palm is grown by our smallholder farmers. Through our introspection, Taimako has identified the planting of sub-standard oil palm seedlings strains which undermines our competitiveness on the global market. The main catalyst for this has been the lack of funds by smallholder farmers to procure globally approved seedlings. The rippling effect
has been a porous oil palm economy and loss of livelihood for the smallholder farmer. In tune with our core vision for agricultural transformation, we see an opportunity to rewrite the narrative and in the process give our oil palm industry a facelift. Through our partnership and team of agro-specialists, we will source for global standard seedlings and distribute to smallholder farmers across the country. Through this initiative, our identified smallholder farmers will plant a total of 500 hectares which translates to 200 tonnes of crude palm oil when processed. This has a market value of over Ghc1,000,000
