Description
This Shea Butter was processed by Adwo Mintah in Assin North District. She is a 25-year-old woman with 5 children. She sells shea butter in the central market where she fought tooth and nail for a space to sell her shea butter.
In a rural setup like Assin, teenage marriage is very prevalent and unfortunately for her, she is a victim. She was married off to the highest bidder by her family to service debts her family owed to the chief. She bore 5 children for the local blacksmith who has a temper to abuse her verbally and physically.
If not for the fragile life of her 5 children, Adwoa would have run away. She now sacrifices her time making ends meet through selling of shea butter to sustain herself and her children whilst fulfilling her marital responsibilities with little complaint. She believes her life should be a sacrifice for her children and as such is doing all she can to provide for her home and her children. She occasionally trades in handmade trinkets per the demands of her clients for their weddings and rites of passages. It is with she can depend on when sales are not good.
Taimako has heard the touching story of Adwoa Mintah of Assin North and believe her efforts must be supported. All processed shea butter purchases made will have a percentage go to support Adwoa Mintah and her children.
