Description
This pot was skilfully moulded by Elijah Esumen in the Kwabibirem community. He is a 17-year-old living with a blacksmith. He learnt how to mould pots from his late father who passed away 2 years ago.
The town blacksmith was the only one willing to take him in and as such he considers him as an adopted father.
He goes to his father’s old pot shack where he moulds pots for the village women. They use these pots to fetch water and store their foodstuffs. The little money he gets goes to supporting his adoptive father’s business and putting food on the table. He does not go to school because the father cannot afford it. He spends all his time dipping his hands in clay and moulding beautiful pots. He understands the blacksmith is doing all he possibly can and does not bother him too much. He is grateful to him and all that he provides.
Any little help we can give to support Elijah can help put food on his table and help continue his education. Let us support Elijah’s pot business.
